February has seen some great new music added to KVH Studios instore music playlists. Here’s our Head of Music, Nick Bewes, with his pick of our favourites.

Rag N Bone Man was back this month with the first single from his new album, and ‘All You Ever Wanted’ hits the bullseye. We’re looking forward to hearing the album ‘Life By Misadventure’.

Griff was featured on the BBC’s Sound of 2021 shortlist and is really good. She followed her track ‘Love is a Compass’ with the brilliant ‘Black Hole’. Pop Justice said that “heartbreak really shouldn’t sound this spectacular” and we can’t disagree.

Poppy Ajudha’s ‘Weakness’ is another sublime slice of modern pop. There’s elements of R&B, soul and jazz in this great single. The video, which she was in complete control of, is brilliant too.

Next up is a band called Police Car Collective with their new single ‘Mine’. If you’re a fan of 80’s indie with a modern twist, then this band is for you. There’s more than a nod in the New Order direction with this, and for me, that’s not a bad thing. Love it.

And finally, to Ella Henderson and Tom Grennan’s new single ‘Let’s Go Home Together’, which she wrote and originally recorded with James Arthur in 2016. This new version is great.

Welcome to the latest look at some of the best new music that our Head of Music Nick Bewes has added to KVH Studios services in the last few weeks.

We can’t believe it’s six years since we first added Karen Harding to our playlists with the sublime Say Something. She returned this month with the brilliant new single Undo My Heart helped by the DJ, singer, songwriter, remixer and record producer Digital Farm Animals.

Poppy Ajudha has fans in high places after President Barack Obama selected her Tom Misch collaboration Disco Yes as one of his favourite songs of 2018. Now she’s back with a great single, Strong Womxn.

Speaking of President Obama, he was inaugurated as the 44th President in 2009. The same year Gordon Brown was UK Prime Minister, Alex Ferguson was still in charge of Man Utd, Fabio Capello was in charge of the England Football team and The Doves released their fourth album Kingdom of Rust. Fast forward to the current day and they’ve just released the first track from their long awaited fifth album, and it’s a cracker. Good to have them back.

The Black Pumas are just brilliant, and their new single, a cover of the Tracey Chapman classic Fast Car, is just stunning. The duo has been described as “Mesmerizing” ‘’Staggering’’ & “Wu-Tang Clan meets James Brown.” If you’re into soul, and you haven’t checked them out yet, sort it!

And our final pick for June is the latest single from Melanie C. She’s always been classed as the one with the best voice from the Spice Girls and this single is the best thing she has done in ages. It sounds so fresh and current.

And there you have it, our highlights of the last month in music. Keep up to date with our playlist additions Spotify playlist here.
