Every year here at KVHstudios we add hundreds of songs to our database, from across the music spectrum. Whether it’s Jazz, Dance, Rock and everything in between we are constantly looking for new music to enhance our services so they are distinctive and sounding as fresh as possible.
We also of course play the biggest hits as well. We like to make sure our customers have a familiar song or two to song-along too. (obviously it’s more than 2, but you know what we mean). With that in mind, as the year draws to a close, we thought it would be interesting to have a look at our services to see what songs from 2016 had been played the most.
In no particular order here are the Top 5 of 2016.
One of the best pop songs of the year, Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop The Feeling quite rightly sits in the Top 5. Released in May, months ahead of the film which it came from, it’s possibly the catchiest single he has ever done. The video is fantastic too.
We first heard of Zara Larrson when she teamed up with the brilliant MNEK in 2015 for their duet Never Forget You. Her first proper solo track that we added was the brilliant Lush Life. We added the song to our services straight away. A classic slice pop.
The winner of the best album title of 2016 are The 1975, it was called I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It, and the first single from it The Sound showed off a more poppy side of the band and we liked it.
In February there was a new name at the top of the UK singles chart, Lukas Graham. From Denmark the band take the charts by storm with their song 7 Years and it went on to be one of our most tracks of the year.
And finally, but by no means least, “Fast Car” is a song by American singersongwriter Tracy Chapman. It was released in April 1988 as the lead single from her self-titled debut album. In 2016 it was given a makeover by Jonas Blue. It has spent over 35 weeks in the UK singles chart.
There we have it, the 5 most played songs of 2016 on KVHstudios services. We can’t wait to bring even more new music to our clients in 2017. It looks like it’s going to be a good year.
